Attending GLCHS was like being in an English and Canadian culture immersion program. It accelerated the development of my English skills. It was instrumental in my later success in university and in my business career.

International Information

Great Lakes Christian High School has been welcoming international students to its campus since the late 1960’s. International students make up about 25% of the GLCHS student body. Come and study in our safe, friendly environment as you develop English skills and prepare for higher education.

English as a Second Language

GLCHS offers ESL classes to strengthen students’ abilities in English and to support students as they adjust to new classroom situations. Students in ESL classes receive academic credits toward their diploma.

Custodians

International students are required by law to have a custodian living in Ontario. The custodian is responsible for the student’s wellbeing while in Canada. The custodian will need to pick up the student at the airport and arrange accommodation for the student for vacations. For a full list of requirements for the custodian please see the attachment at the end of the International Application to the Academic program.

Deluxe Room and Board

There are three three-day weekends and three four-day weekends during the school year. The Deluxe Residence Plan allows students to remain in the dorms for these six short vacations. Supervision, meals and interesting excursions are provided and paid for. The residential halls are closed during the Christmas vacation (2 weeks) and March break (1 week). There is an additional cost of $2,450 for the Deluxe Residence Plan.

Visa

When a student is accepted to GLCHS, a formal letter of acceptance is provided when the school fee has been received. This letter will be necessary to obtain a Student Visa into Canada. All expenses associated with obtaining a Student Visa are the responsibility of the student and are not included in any of the fees paid to the school. For more information about student visas, see the Canadian Government Website
