Our History

The Great Lakes Christian College corporation was formed in 1950 by men and women of faith and vision to promote Christian education for young people. The estate of the late Senator Gibson was purchased and the school opened with 14 students in grades 9 and 10 in 1952.
Early years saw teachers also serving as dormitory supervisors. Enrolment climbed steadily and the campus grew to include 9 buildings on 15 acres. Though teachers no longer supervise the dormitories, they continue to be involved with students both inside and outside the classroom.
Through the years GLCHS has stayed committed both to academic excellence and to Christian values in education. GLCHS is proud to serve young people from down the street as well as those from around the world.
